As we’re closing in on the end of our crowdfunding campaign, it’s been quite a whirlwind and a learning experience, which I’ll get to in more detail in a future blog post.
All I will say for now is that it’s a lot of hard work. You can’t just sit back. You can’t act too cool, too reserved, or too dispassionate. It’s all in. Earnest, sincere, and honest. You have to put yourself out there in ways that go at the edge of your comfort zone, because frankly asking for money isn’t always an easy thing, and anyone who tells you otherwise is shameless!
But what has gotten me through it was knowing why I am doing this. And the support has also helped validate that “why” – I won’t lie, that validation from others helps.
Like the main character Dede in the film had mentioned (in the trailer and in the film):
I’m not just doing this for me anymore.
